Faith
At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, I showed up at the spiritual life office with a coffee in my hand and bags under my eyes to participate in ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½â€™s MLK Serve Day. If I’m being completely honest, part of me regretted signing up for the event in the first place. I value my sleep, and I hadn’t gotten much of it the night before. All I really wanted to do was climb back into my warm bed and cherish the quiet for a few more hours.
Faith
The season of Advent, the four weeks leading up to Christmas day, is all about waiting. We know the end of the story – the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior – but Advent invites us to sit in the space before the celebration and to consider that we are people in need, that the world doesn’t always work like we want it to, and that we are truly dependent on Jesus.

On April 8, 2022, I made the difficult but much-needed decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal and leave the university I was attending, Utah Valley University. I made the decision for a number of reasons, but the primary reason was I wanted to be at a place where I could feel more comfortable being myself.

With many financial planners reaching retirement age and the baby boomer generation in need of financial consultation, professional opportunities are plentiful. Factor in the aftermath of the 2008-09 financial crisis – and the cynicism toward corporate and investment banking that resulted – and you can understand why ethical and competent financial planners are in high demand.
